Following our installation at Garmin (Europe), it was necessary to handover the system to both operatives and maintenance personnel, who will be using the system on a day to day basis.
Training guidelines issued to personnel. One was for operatives, which included information regarding their use of the system, procedures to follow and simple fault rectification techniques. The second issued to the Maintenance personnel, was as above but went into more detail regarding fault finding and extensive details of the system.
A complete day was spent with the operatives, going through all of the actions the system was capable of. This included inducting and replacing totes, basic parts and an in depth explanation of how the conveyor would operate, including use of the SCADA system. This included time for operatives to complete the actions themselves to give a better understanding.
A second day was allocated to the maintenance personnel. This again covered the system operations and an in-depth walk through of the complete installation. Further detail was supplied on the inner workings of the system, and how to read and understand the electrical drawings supplied in the final manual. This would increase their ability to monitor their conveyor, and resolve issues much more quickly, obviously reducing any system downtime.
Additional periods were spent on a one-to-one basis where personnel felt that further explanation was required for a complete understanding or extra questions.
