Pallet conveyor system to transport loaded pallets of cable to and from AGV positions, then moved on to hi-bay storage racking. Installed in conjunction with European Conveyor Systems Ltd.

All in ARMORDUCT two compartment cable trunking, to separate Extra Low Voltage (ELV) and Communication networks from Single Phase (230V AC) and Three Phase (415V AC) power distribution.

26 Three Phase SEW Motors, with local EATON isolation points. These vary from 0.37kW to 3kW, supplying Roller Conveyor, Chain Conveyor, Lifting Transfers, Traversing Conveyors and a High speed Shuttle Car.

Two BIZERBA Weigh Scales designed to measure and check the weight of a fully loaded pallet before sending it into storage, data transferred using Profibus DP.

Two DATALOGIC DS2 light grids used to check heights of the loaded pallets and also any overhang from the product, data transferred using Ethernet IP.

Two DATALOGIC S81 distance sensors used to determine the difference in pallet widths (either 1000mm or 1200mm).

Three DATALOGIC DS4800 Bar Code Readers used as a reference for all specific data per pallet. Height, weight and width will be dynamically attached to each individual Bar Code. With communication to the Customers’ Warehouse management System, a position can be assigned in the Storage racking, or the product rejected if constraints are not met. Initial communication back to the Main PLC is via Ethernet IP, data transferred between the Readers is over IDNet.

A SICK DL100 Distance Measuring Device, installed using SSI cable communicatons to monitor and determine the position of the high speed shuttle car.

Two SICK ISD 400-1111 Opto-Links have been used to allow wireless data transfer from a fixed position to the moving shuttle car, in both directions. This data is hard wired back to the relevant PLC using Profibus DP.

One SIEMENS 6AV6647 HMI unit is installed on the front of the Main Control Panel to give the customer a real time view of the system, display any faults or errors and give manual control over the system for trained operatives (using password protection).

The main PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) is SIEMENS CPU 315-2DP, with SSI communications card, 3 Input cards and 4 Output cards. This is connected to the Warehouse Management via Ethernet IP. The PLC on-board the shuttle car is SIEMENS SM338 (Profibus Communications Card), with 1 Input card and 1 Output card.
All Ethernet IP equipment can be accessed remotely via the internet and the customers Warehouse Management Server. This provides immediate, off-site support in the case of emergencies or breakdowns.

Compact dimensions, integrated display with switchable carrier frequency (F1/2), 180 m range, transmission rates of up to 3 Mbit/s and Profibus interface are the most important features of the new ISD400 from SICK.
